Economic Empowerment and Advancement of Women
DSI has worked with ESSO (an Exxon Mobil Company), Star Ultra Deep (a Chevron Company), SPDC (Shell Petroleum Development Company), Churches and collaborated with other CBOs in Delta State, Anambra State to carry out Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurial Development Programmes.
In Ogun State for some monitoring and evaluation of school infrastructure in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria Universal Basic Education Board. In Lagos State, DSI partners with Lagos State SUBEB to monitor the following programmes:
- School feeding programme
- Project Zero programme; addressing out-of-school children
- School kit programme; school uniforms, bags, sandals, books etc
Skill Acquisition Sectoral approach (Agriculture, Hospitality, Education, Business Services, IT, E-businesses, Marketing (Value and Supply chain sessions) Entrepreneurial Development Programs: For women already in business (Leadership, Networking, Branding and Packaging, Communication, Emotional Intelligence)
Social Welfare Program: DSI has collaborated the Institute of Social Work of Nigeria (ISOWN) and Delta State Remand Agencies on Rehabilitation of the youth in remand homes, prostitutes and adult Prison inmates.
Access to Finance: DSI Multipurpose Cooperative Society (DSICOOP) encourages the savings of its alumni. Grants are also welcome to boost access to finance of DSICOOP members
Collaboration in The Education Sector With ESSPIN/UK.AID
DSI made a tremendous impact in the education sector in partnership with ESSPIN/UK.AID. In the course of this partnership, we trained, mentored, and monitored School Based Management Committees in 92 primary schools in Lagos Mainland and Etiosa Local Government Areas of Lagos State.
This has led to the improvement of teaching and learning in these Local Government Areas (LGAs) as well as the enhancement of the learning environment. And subsequently, improvement in enrolment, retention, and completion of the learning cycle in primary schools.
After the 8-year project, we have maintained our relationship with State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and we are aware of some priority areas in the education sector in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and Delta States.
Our Partnership With the German and Swiss Embassies
We have also partnered with the German and Swiss Embassies to provide furniture and toilet facilities to 3 schools in Lagos State.
Distribution Of Palliatives During the COVID-19 Lockdown In Partnership With The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs & Poverty Alleviation (“WAPA”)
DSI is accredited and registered with WAPA. It partnered with the Ministry to distribute palliatives to widows and single parents in Lagos State during the lockdown.
DSI is currently processing its application with the Lagos State Agency for Mass Education. This will provide an added boost to its skills training as trainees will have the opportunity and privilege to be Lagos State certified DSI is one of the 2022 WAPA Grantees.
