Skill Acquisition Programme (“SAP”)
This program is designed to provide non-formal vocational/life skill training to target groups such as women and youth of various categories, especially school dropouts and those without access to the formal education system. It is an alternative route to a vocational qualification.
Micro Credit/Grants and/or Starter Packs
At the completion of the vocational training cycle,micro credit/grants and/or starter packs are made available to assist the beneficiaries in starting their micro businesses.
Entrepreneurial Development Programmes (“EDP”)
Designed to address lack of managerial skills in women and youth owned businesses in order to transform their small-scale businesses into better structured business entities.
DSI Multipurpose Cooperative Society (“DSICOOP”)
DSICOOP is a multipurpose cooperative society aimed at making access to funds available primarily to past and future beneficiaries of DSI programmes, other interested groups and members of the community. This would also encourage the culture of savings, investments, micro-loans and taking advantage of economies of scale.
Governance and Budget Tracking
DSI is involved in governance and budget tracking especially in the areas of health, education and social welfare expenditure. DSI is a member of the Lagos State Civil Society Partnership (LASCOP) coalition and works on budget tracking in Lagos State.
Legislative Focus Programmes (“LFP”)
This programme addresses and advocates on legislative issues related to women, youth and children.
Education Sector Development Programmes (“EDUGRANT”)
- Provision of school furniture and learning aids
- Toilet facilities
- Borehole facilities
- Sponsor-a-teacher-child-program
- Establishment of school-based management committees
- Out of School Children programme
- School feeding and kit programme
Research and Development for Social-economic Reforms:
DSI is open to grants and partnerships for research in social and economic reforms.
